The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA)

The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence  (SANCA) is a non-governmental organisation whose major objectives are     the prevention and treatment of Alcohol and Drug Dependence. The first     of these objectives is mainly achieved through the provision of treatment     services for chemically dependent people and their families           (Chemical dependence is an umbrella term used to describe both     alcoholism and drug dependence)           Established in 1956, SANCA came into existence in response to a need expressed by communities for     assistance to deal with alcohol and other drug problems in their midst           SANCA is a national umbrella organisation consisting of 31 Alcohol and Drug Help Centres, providing     over 39 service points \ satellite offices in all the nine provinces of South Africa. Each Alcohol and Drug     Help Centre functions independently, but is affiliated to SANCA. http://www.sancanational.org.za
